renovation

heritage & listed building

The renovation reimagines a 19th-century Category B listed tenement basement maisonette as a lighter, more fluid home defined by openness, rhythm, and connection. Formerly compartmentalised rooms are reshaped into a flowing sequence of living, cooking, and dining spaces, allowing light and movement to travel more freely through the plan. Subtle shifts in level, ceiling height, and material establish a gentle spatial rhythm, guiding the eye and body while preserving moments of intimacy within the open layout. Interventions are carefully calibrated and sympathetic to the listed fabric, retaining and celebrating original elements while discreetly integrating contemporary insertions. New openings and glazed elements strengthen the relationship between interior and exterior, drawing in daylight, air, and garden views - allowing the historic home to support modern living without compromising its character.
