extension

including renovation

This proposal reimagines the rear of a 1900s semi-detached villa in Cambuslang, replacing an existing dark utility space with a new light-filled family area, carefully balancing heritage and contemporary living. A new rear extension and thoughtful reconfiguration of the ground floor dissolve the boundary between house and garden, allowing the home to open southwards and draw daylight deep into its plan.

Generous rooflights and finely proportioned glazing animate the interior throughout the day, casting shifting patterns of light across warm timber floors and crafted joinery. The heart of the home is a new kitchen and dining space, conceived as a calm, social setting that anchors daily life while maintaining a strong visual connection to the garden beyond.

Supporting spaces; including a utility, mud room, shower room, home office and games room - are seamlessly integrated, enhancing functionality without compromising clarity or flow. The result is a quietly expressive intervention: one that respects the villa’s original character while creating a contemporary, light-rich environment designed for modern family living.
